Chewing Gum and Potty Training

Kylah got to chew gum for the first time this morning. Our deal was that if she went 4 days in a row with no accidents, she could chew gum. We had a long discussion the other night (well, long for a 2 year old) about how we don't swallow gum and we throw it in the trash when we are finished and NEVER on the floor or ground. Needless to say, the talk didn't sink in because as soon as she had chewed it and was ready for another piece (about 2 minutes after putting it in her mouth), she swallowed it. She was so happy with herself for getting to chew it - I think she will continue to let us know when she needs to go to the potty!! :o)

Great idea! ZK has been wanting "bubbles" ever since she noticed me chewing gum the other day. In fact, she's obsessed with wanting to chew it. I don't let her.... but now, I'm thinking you've got the right idea!! I don't know if I'm ready to potty train her quite yet.... but, the gum would surely get her interested. We're ready to play again soon!!

Ugh - I remember Lindsey would always forget and swallow hers too!
